There was yet another large crowd at the Shark tank at Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. The game started with some tremendous play from the Shark defense with a couple of interceptions early in the game by defensive back Seth Ellis and some really big hits from jack linebacker Cody Saul and defensive lineman Keith Bowers. Sharks quarterback Jonathan Bane hit wide receiver Devin Wilson on a long 30 yard touchdown and another 45 yard touchdown pass to Wilson was called back. Jacksonville Sharks wide receiver Jarmon Foster also caught two first half touchdown passes from Bane. Linebacker/fullback Zack Brown had some big hits on defense–plus, Zack Brown scored three touchdowns on offense, rushing for two and receiving a touchdown pass also from quarterback Jonathan Bane. Bane also ran for a touchdown from one yard out during the night too and at the point the Sharks had built a 35 to 15 lead over Columbus in the 3rd quarter.
Columbus Lions quarterback Luke Collis kept the Lions coming back in the game on several scoring plays, including an acrobatic catch Lions wide receiver Bones Bagaunte. Lions quarterback Luke Collis in all had six touchdown passes and a total of 196 yards passing against a very good Sharks defense. In the fourth quarter a big sack of Columbus quarterback Luke Collis by Sharks defensive linemen Nick Woodman on a speed rush was a monumental with just over four minutes left to play in the 4th quarter.
Give the Columbus Lions credit, they never gave up and kept trying to mount comebacks but the Sharks never trailed during this game. When the game ended the Sharks had won their sixth game in a row. The Jacksonville Sharks are now 6-1 at the top of the National Arena League. The final score: Jacksonville Sharks 49 Columbus Lions 41.
