You’re Going to Need a Busier City

Mike Fafaul and the Jacksonville Sharks made their way up to the historic Westchester County Center to take on David Legree and the New York Streets. 

The opening kickoff from Brandon Behr went out the back of the endzone for a touchback. Davide Legree started slowly as he went zero for two in his passes to start the drive. After a Legree run the Streets faced a crucial fourth down early on. A Legree scramble wouldn’t be enough for a first down giving the Sharks the ball

Mike Fafaul and the Sharks picked up where they left off last week as Jacksonville only needed two plays to get into the endzone. Brandon Bher’s extra point was good making it six to nothing favoring the Sharks.

Bher’s ensuing kickoff went out the endzone giving the ball to the Streets on their own ten. On the first play of the drive Legree found Devente Jenkins who drew a face mask call giving New York the ball on the Sharks 22. The Streets lucked out after a tipped ball hit the turf. Legree and company were able to pick up the first down on a pass to Edger Allen Poe. On third and goal Legree found Jenkins for the New York touchdown. With the two point conversion attempt no good the Sharks lead seven to six. 

The William Deane went out the endzone for a touchback giving the Sharks the ball at their own ten. Fafaul fumbled the snap and New York recovered the ball for a touchdown. With the extra point good the Streets lead 13 to seven. 

Deane’s next kickoff was a touchback setting the Sharks up at their own ten. The drive got off to a poor start as Jarmon Fortson was caught for a false start backing the team up five yards. Fafaul found Durron Neal for a Sharks first down. Two plays later  time expired in the first quarter with New York in front 13 to seven. On a fourth down conversion attempt was no good giving New York the ball. 

The drive started with a bang as Legree found Tyler McDonald for a 24 yard gain. On a cross body pass David Legree was intercepted by Seth Ellis in the endzone, stopping a promising drive. Jacksonvile looked to make the most of this opportunity and did so on a 39 yard bomb. With the extra point good the Sharks lead 14-13. 

Bher’s kickoff went out of play for a touchback giving the Streets the ball at their own ten. After a penalty backed the team up , Edger Allen Poe was able to draw a passinteference call giving the Streets a first down. With a bit of breathing room Legree found Jenkins for a new York touchdown. With the extra point good the Streets lead 20-14. 

After the Deane kickoff hooked to the left and went out of play the Sharks set up shop at their own five. It only took one play for Fafaul to find Durron Neal for a touchdown. With the extra point good the Sharks lead 21-20.

Brandon Bher’s kickoff was good for a deuce (a kickoff that goes through the uprights) Jacksonvilee tacked on two more points. On the next snap Legree was sacked in the endzone for a Sharks safety, making it 25-20, Jacksonville. 

After yet another touchdback the Sharks look to pour on more points. Jacksonville looked to be in no hurry however as they had two short plays to begin the drive. On a third and four the Streets jumped offsides giving the Sharks a first down. On a crucial third and five New York committed an illegal defense penalty giving the Sharks a first down. After a quick run the Sharks were in the red zone, bringing the game to the one minute warning in the first half. On second and goal Durron Neal scampered into the endzone on a reverse for a touchdown. With the extra point good the Sharks lead 32-20.

Bher’s ensuing kickoff was a squib kick that was recovered at the Sharks 21. After a quick out route to Poe, the Streets were faced with a choice with only four seconds left in the half; go for it or take the field goal. New York chose the former and paid for it as Legree was dropped for a loss of yards as time expired for the half with the Sharks leading 32-20. 

William Deane’s kickoff to start the second half went out of the endzone for a touchback. Fafaul found Neal for a first down early in the drive giving the Sharks breathing room. On the ensuing play Fafaul found Fortson for another jacksonville first down. On second and goal, Fafaul found Cody Saul for a short gain making ut third and goal from the five. After an incomplete pass a crucial fourth and goal came up and it was Streets linebacker Anthony Johnsone who came up with the big play intercepting the ball and returning in to the Sharks 23. 

New York’s ensuing drive was in jeopardy and an incomplete pass on fourth down turned the ball back over to the sharks.

Fafaul began a drive full of short passes that quickly lead the Sharks inside the Streets red zone. However, an ill advised personal foul set the Sharks back to the New York 14. Fafaul was unfazed as he found Neal for a team yard gain making it third and goal from the Streets four. After a running play backfired losing yardage, bringing up to fourth and goal where Fafaul overthrew his target, turning the ball over on downs.

The New York drive started at their own five, looking to make it a one score game. A quick pass to Edger Allen Poe gave the Streets some breathing room and a first down. After another first down through the air, Legree decided to run for a change, gaining nine yards on one play and moving the chains on the next snap. On third and goal, a pass intended for Edger Allen Poe was interfered with giving New York a fresh set of downs. Legree punched the ball in on a quarterback sneak but the two point conversion attempt was no good making it 32-26 with the Sharks on top at the end of the third quarter. 

Wiliam Deane’s kickoff went out the back of the endzone for a touchback giving the Sharks the ball at their own ten. Fafaul began the drive with a first down completion to Durron Neal. On the next play Fafaul threw for yard another touchdown with the two point conversion stopped the score read 38-26, Sharks. 

Bher’s kickoff peeled right as it went out the back of the endzone giving the Streets the ball at their own five. Edger Allen Poe reeled in the Legree pass getting down to the Sharks six. Two plays later, Legree snuck the ball into the receiver’s hands for the touchdown. With the two point conversion good the Sharks lead was cut to four as they lead 38-34. 

After the touchback on the kickoff the Jacksonville quickly picked up steam as they soon found themselves at the New York 12. On the ensuing play Fafaul found Fortson for a Sharks touchdown. With the extra point no good the Sharks lead 44-34.

The Sharks kickoff went out the back of the endzone giving New York the ball at their own ten. Legree found Edger Allen Poe for a quick eight yards bringing up a crucial third and two. With an incomplete pass the Streets were faced with a pivotal fourth down in which a Legree pass ht the turn turning the ball over on downs.

Fafaul was nearly intercepted on the first play of the drive. It was the second play of the drive that was also the last as Fafaul threw for yet another touchdown pass. With the extra point good the Sharks lead 51-34. 

Bher’s kickoff went out the back of the endzone for a touchback. After two unsuccessful plays the Streets were faced with a third down at the one minute warning. Following another failed play, the Streets were faced with a fourth and ten where Legree found his man for a first down. Although New York would score later in the drive, it wouldn’t be enough to take down the Sharks, who won 52-41.
